Title: House At The Whim Of The Tide
Name: Maria Daher
Voiceover: Allegria Sainsbury
Sound: Chopin Nocturne in E flat major, Op. 9, No. 2 - played by Maria Daher
My project proposes a rearrangement (and additions) to the site that enable rituals and imitates domestic experiences, in an atmospheric sense. The constituents of the chosen site are given value through the production of characters. In this manner, the site becomes a stage. Through my observations and engagement with the site, the most prominent spectacle that exists, as a result of the nature of the land and dynamics of the weather, is that of waves crashing into Trow Rocks. At high tide, the sea spray could reach even 10 meters high, during a storm, unimaginable. A rearrangement of the characters in my proposal orchestrates atmospheric spaces occupiable by domestic activities and further enhances the synergy of landscape and weather. The spaces are temporal, the amalgamation of certain weather conditions and the constructed architecture, engendering the rituals of a house that is powered by weather.
